Becoming a Member of Melonie Park

Why should I join this church or any church? Why is it important? We encounter the word church throughout the New Testament and in a great majority of instances the term refers to the local church like that in Rome or Corinth. The local church was the fellowship of the followers of Jesus Christ in a particular area. We know that they met together, worshipped together, prayed together, and so forth as the born-again family of God. There are many things about the early church life and ministry that make sense only in the context of an official membership.

Membership demonstrates your visible commitment to our philosophy of ministry and to unity of the body at Melonie Park. It also is a visible demonstration of your willingness to be in submission to the shepherding ministry and leadership of our elders.

Requirements for Membership:

  1. Attend the "Welcome Class."
  2. Be in fundamental agreement with the "Doctrinal Statement" and "Covenant of Fellowship."
  3. Desire for Membership.
  4. Statement of faith in Christ as personal Savior.
  5. Baptized as a believer.
  6. Meet with an elder.
  7. Membership is approved by the Elders.
  8. Presentation to church family during morning service.
